Kitten

Kitten

Brandon and Michael came home from school as usual. They had thrown their bags under the writing desk, changed their clothes and ran out. Boys have found long rods and began to beat a big puddle with them. There were many puddles in the yard after it was raining yesterday.
-                    Look, how big the splatters are! – said Brandon and have beaten the puddle rather fiercely with his rod.
-                    I can make better splatters! Look! – said Michael and has beaten the water more strongly. Michael didn’t expect that water will slop so badly that his trousers will be all wet, especially on his knees.
-                    I am all wet! – He gave a yell discontentedly. He was looking at his wet trousers. – I have to go home to change them…
Suddenly the boys have heard the dog’s barking and have seen that dog that was chasing a little kitten. The kitten quickly sheltered under the car. The kitten was resisting the dog, snorting and hissing. The dog was barking clearly and loudly. It has run around the car and kicked the kitten away from under the car. The little cat was brave; it has climbed the tree at top speed. The dog has understood that he cannot climb the tree like the kitten. The dog gave some wows and ran away.
Only after that the boys began to speak with each other again. Before that moment they were attentively watching what was happening.
-         Are you going home? – Brandon asked Michael.
-         Miaow! – The boys have heard. The kitten was mewing and looking sadly at them with its big yellow eyes.
Michael had a look at a poor kitten and said:
-         We have to help him. He cannot climb down the tree.
-         How are you going to help him? It is a willow tree. The branches are rather high and the trunk is wet after the yesterday’s rain. - Answered Brandon.
-         Mew! - Again the kitten was loudly mewing.
-         You will help me to climb the tree. You will give me a hoist.
-         But your trousers are all wet! And you were going home! – Brandon was arguing.
Michael was looking at his friend saying nothing. Brandon felt shame and said:
-         OK! I will give you a hoist!
He helped Michael to climb the tree. Michael has easily got the branch the kitten was sitting at. The boy has taken the kitten, drew it close against his breast and climbed off the tree.
-         Little…- Michael was caressing little kitten and the kitten was snapping his eyes shut and purring. He was grateful to his rescuers for their help.
